Campalfi sits on a shelf near the river Merse, near the Gorello carrying water from the river to the mills of the valley. The hotel is an old rural building of the twelfth century. A Few yards pass the path That connects the medieval mill in the Val di Merse up to the "Steccaia" the lock from the river Which Were Collected and Diverted.
